List of The Allman Brothers Band members

The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman (slide guitar and lead guitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, organ, songwriting), as well as Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals, songwriting), Berry Oakley (bass guitar), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson (drums). While the band has been called the principal architects of southern rock, they also incorporate elements of blues, jazz, and country music, and their live shows have jam band-style improvisation and instrumentals.
The band had several lineup changes over the course of their 45-year career. Duane Allman and Oakley were killed in unrelated motorcycle accidents in 1971 and 1972, leading the band to add Chuck Leavell on piano and Lamar Williams on bass. Following a 1976 breakup, the members regrouped in 1978, save for Leavell and Williams. For their first reunion, the band added Dan Toler on guitar, David Goldflies on bass. The group fired Johanson in 1980, replacing him on drums with David "Frankie" Toler and adding Mike Lawler on keyboards. Upon their 1989 reunion, most members of the second incarnation did not return. The group added Allen Woody on bass, Johnny Neel on keyboards and harmonica, and Warren Haynes on guitar. Percussionist Marc Quiñones joined in 1991, and Oteil Burbridge joined after Woody left in 1997. Haynes departed in 1997 but returned in 2000; during this period, Jack Pearson replaced him on guitar. Longtime member Betts was fired from the group in 2000; the band employed Jimmy Herring on guitar for summer tour dates. Following this, the band added its final member, Derek Trucks on guitar, nephew of drummer Butch Trucks.
Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks are the only members of the band to appear in all of its lineups. In 2014, the group dissolved with the departure of Haynes and Derek Trucks.〔http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/allman-brothers-band-to-split-after-45-years/〕 ''
